Break out those “Sensible Shoes”

As San Diego County moves through the state’s “Phase 2” of the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the City of San Diego will be allowing the public to re-enter Balboa Park’s “central mesa” area once more – where the Zoo, museums, and Organ Pavilion are located. Parking lots will open as soon as June 12. Click Here for the latest information about the Park.

Don’t look for a live concert at the Organ Pavilion, though. Unlike Open Air Museums, which can open at this stage, the Pavilion isn’t subject to limited entry – it’s an open plaza – and public gatherings at entertainment venues are still ruled out by the public health guidelines. The Spreckels Organ Society will hold no live concerts till further notice – which means we won’t have a Monday night festival until 2021. Sunday concerts will keep coming online, for the health of the Society’s audience and volunteers.

So put on your best shoes for walking and enjoy the trees, birds, paths, gardens, fountains, and the joy of a June that happens to be sunny!
